Note: Ad priorities do not apply to share of voice (SOV) ad campaigns.
If there is enough inventory to meet play or impression required targets, ad priorities do not matter and all ads meet their required targets.
AmperWave Streaming optimizes ad selection to meet targeted plays or impressions. Except for a small amount of inventory allocated to ad networks up front to help maximize CPMs (cost per thousand), the system attempts to fill direct-sold ads by the broadcaster first (P1-P3 below), followed by ad network ads, and then by fill (P4-P6). Ads in unmanaged fill campaigns are limited to Priority 4, 5, or 6.
There are nine priority levels for ads:
1.Paid ad network ads.
2.Paid ad network ads to play in the ad network minimum inventory percentage.
3.Paid ad: High priority (direct-sold P1 ads)
4.Paid ad: medium priority (direct-sold P2 ads)
5.Paid ad: low priority (direct-sold P3 ads)
6.Paid ad network ads to play in the inventory percentage above the minimum inventory percentage and below the maximum inventory percentage.
7.Fill: high priority (PSA’s, promos, P4 ads)
8.Fill: medium priority (PSA’s, promos, P5 ads)
9.Fill: low priority (PSA’s, promos, P6 ads)
Contention for inventory can come into play in the following situations:
•Not enough ad inventory to meet all of the required ad plays or impression targets.
•Not enough ad inventory inside certain hours of the day due to ad daypart definitions.
•No repeat settings (Ad Management / Preferences / Settings) that limit the number of times an ad can play during an hour or day.
•Compete settings (Ad Management / Preferences / Settings) that limit the number of times an ad can play during an hour or day.
•Minimum percentage of inventory allocated to Ad Networks. If you are opted in to an Ad Network, it’s a good idea to set this as high as possible - typically what percent of inventory are you very confident you won’t sell yourself. The percent of inventory is effectively turned over to the Ad Network to sell, of which you receive a revenue share.
