Some stations require blackouts (or geofencing) of their stream when, for example, they are doing a broadcast of a professional ballgame and don’t have the rights to stream the game outside a specific area. You can set up AmperWave Streaming to go into “blackout” mode where, instead of the broadcast signal, it streams files from a directory or an alternate station. You can also set up the blackout .
There are two types of blackouts: a scheduled blackout and a triggered blackout. The scheduled blackout requires you to select the start date and time and the end date and time. A triggered blackout lets you spontaneously start and end a blackout by including codes in the audio stream itself.
Alternate blackout content will repeat (loop) within the start and end times for schedule based blackouts or between receipt of start and end codes if it is a triggered blackout.
Selecting an audio file is the first option. This is a piece of audio that will repeat for the duration of your blackout. Usually these files are a short clip explaining why you are in a blackout. At the conclusion of the blackout, the alternate content finishes playing and the stream returns to its usual content.
Note: If the length of the blackout is greater than seven days from the start date, the system plays the alternate audio file once and then disconnects the user.
Instead of a looping audio file, you can select another station stream that will play during the blackout.
Note: When the blackout ends, the user will continue to receive the alternate stream until they reconnect.
