An Impression is when an add is played for a single user. AmperWave Streaming tracks impressions based off the user’s IP address and records an impression when an ad is delivered to that unique IP address.
Example 1: An ad plays during peak hours and 100 people receive it. That means that a single play received 100 impressions.
A Play is recorded when the number of ad impressions received equals the average number of users on the station stream(s) for the dayparts selected.
Example 2: A Play-based ad is received by 500 people during a break in which 1000 people were connected. This results in ½ of a Play. Plays are totaled and reported only as whole numbers.
Note: Podcast targeted ads must use impressions.
A Share of Voice (SOV) ad has a required percentage of audience impressions instead of a required number of audience impressions. SOV ads, often used for sponsorships, deliver the percentage of all impressions for stations, dayparts, and dates they are set for.
Note: SOV is not compatible with On-Demand/Podcasting, or with any sort of advanced targeting (Geo, Device, etc.).
