WideOrbit Domain Change

AmperWave was acquired from WideOrbit in October of 2021, it comprises what was formerly WideOrbit Streaming and On Demand. AmperWave was granted permission to continue using WideOrbit domains until October 20th, 2023. After October, stream links and players associated with WO domains will cease to function. As AmperWave will no longer have control of these domains, automatic redirects will not be put in place. A full list of example URL changes can be found at the bottom of the page.

Stream links

In order to stream, links to our products need to be embedded into webpages, apps, skills and players. So any and all applications will need to be updated to use the correct links. The mount point, the part of the URL specific to your station will not be changing, just the domain it is hosted from. So for example:

If you are distributing your streams via any sort of custom web player, app, or skill, you will need to work with your developer or third party support to get these links updated. As many of our customers distribute their streams through major streaming aggregators like Tunein, iHeart, Airkast and/or Audacy, we have been working with those teams to update these links en masse to help save our customers effort there. So there should be no need for you to reach out to those providers.

If an export is needed of your new stream links you can find that by going to the Stations page in the Streaming Console and do as follows:

  1. Select Export Stations in the upper right hand side of the page.
  2. Select the station(s) you would like a streamlink for in the box to the left of each station name.
  3. Click Include Streams, next to the Stream Summary chart at the top of the page.
  4. Select the Codec and Protocol of the stream links you would like to export. By default .m3u for Icecast and .m3u8 for HLS are selected. If you would like a source value automatically appended to each stream, include that as well.
  5. Click Export to Excel in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Web Players

The AmperWave web players will also need to be updated on any web pages that they are currently linked to. This will require your website administrator to update your station and/or podcasts(s) homepage with the updated link. The ID number or show name tied to the player will not change, just the domain of the player. The player links should be updated as such:

Most webpage should be using an HTML href to link to the player that will look something like this:

<a href="https://v7player.wostreaming.net/XXXX" target="new" onclick="window.open('https://v7player.wostreaming.net/XXXX'"></a>

This code will need to be updated to look for the new domain:

<a href="https://player.amperwave.net/XXXX" target="new" onclick="window.open('https://player.amperwave.net/XXXX'>></a>

If a list of streaming players is needed this can be found in the station export process described above in column H of the export.

Now Playing API

Some customers may have their own custom player or work with a third party for their web player or app. Some of these applications may call our Now Playing API for metadata concerning what is or has recently played on the stream. Just the domain will need to change in the call, the remaining portion of the API call can remain the same.

You can see examples of the updated domain URLs in the table below.

Encoders

All AmperWave proprietary encoders, AIS, will need to have configuration changes made. The AmperWave support team will handle updating these encoder configurations. Each encoder only takes a minute or two to update, so any downtime will be minimal. The support team will reach out to customers as needed to request access to encoders and inform of potential downtime as the software is being updated. AmperWave support will be reaching out to Account Administrators and Engineers to coordinate.

Third party encoders, such as Telos, StreamS, Wheatnet, etc. will not need to be updated, as they push streams to a domain that is not being deprecated (abacast.com).

Bookmarks

Any locally saved bookmarks in your web browser linking to wostreaming.com or woondemand.com should be updated to their corresponding AmperWave location.
